A lakehouse in Microsoft Fabric allows storage of structured and unstructured data in a single location.
The article discusses the process of creating an empty lakehouse within a workspace.
The workspace must have a capacity assigned to it, indicated by a jewel logo or through workspace settings.
There are two methods to start creating a lakehouse: either through the New option or by switching to the Data Engineering experience.
When creating a lakehouse, the name can only include letters, numbers, and underscores.
Every lakehouse created in Fabric also generates an SQL Endpoint and a Power BI Dataset.
Despite not yet adding data, containers are already in place to handle future data in the lakehouse.
