The product team improved the "no-code" option for reports in recent releases, introducing the "Analyse view" and Power Bi reports.
A "no-code" option for Word reports was missing until the introduction of a Word add-in in Business Central 2024 wave 2 (BC25).
The Word add-in provides actions such as hiding empty tables, rows, columns, and fields if zero.
To utilize the Word add-in, users must download it from appsource: Dynamics 365 Business Central Usage Analytics.
The add-in adds an extra option to the ribbon for easy access.
Users can hide empty tables, rows, columns, and fields if zero by placing the corresponding controls in the document.
Microsoft is aware of a bug where combining the "Hide Field is Zero" and "Hide empty table column" options may prevent report generation, with a fix expected soon.
The Word add-in is seen as a valuable feature for consultants and customers to have more control over reports without the need for developers or complex RDLC reporting.
