The article discusses the process of setting up a shortcut in Microsoft Fabric to Dataverse, allowing data to stay in Dataverse for Fabric users to access and work with.
Two methods are outlined for creating the connection: starting from Fabric by creating a Lakehouse and selecting tables for a shortcut, or starting from Dataverse by going to tables -> Analyze and replicating all tables.
Business Central data can be extracted to Fabric using APIs or the unsupported tool bc2adls, but a native connection exists between Business Central and Dataverse for a more seamless integration.
Benefits of using Dataverse shortcuts include easy access to data from Business Central and Power Apps in Fabric, simplified analysis and reporting, and data maintenance within Dataverse rather than copied to Fabric.
Dataverse shortcuts create an optimized replica in delta parquet format for Fabric, ensuring data remains in the region and Fabric only reads the replica data.
Virtual tables created in Business Central cannot be selected for shortcuts due to the "Change Tracking" option being disabled and unable to be changed.
