The public preview for Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 release wave 1 (BC24) is available.
Synthetic relationships can be used to expose more Business Central data in Dataverse, enhancing the value of Dynamics 365 investment.
Two ways to share data between Business Central and Dataverse are through data synchronization or using virtual tables.
Virtual tables, also known as virtual entities, seamlessly represent data from external systems as tables in Microsoft Dataverse without replication or custom coding.
Synthetic relationships can be set up between synchronized data and data in virtual tables to enrich the data without developer assistance.
The Enable action on the Available Virtual Tables page is required to set up synthetic relationships.
The New Synthetic Relation assisted setup guide can be used to create synthetic relationships.
The effect of setting relationships between native (synchronized) tables and virtual tables can be seen by opening associated records in Business Central.
