The "Balance" and "Total Balance" fields on the General Journal page represent the running total of the journal lines and the sum of all unbalanced lines, respectively.
The "Balance" field changes based on the selected line in the journal, while the "Total Balance" remains constant and reflects the total of unbalanced lines.
Entering a "Balancing" general ledger account in the "Bal. Account No" field can affect the calculation of the "Balance" field.
The "Total Balance" must be zero in order to post the batch in the journal.
Understanding how the "Balance" and "Total Balance" fields work helps in verifying journal entries and ensuring correct balance before posting.
