The article explains how to calculate delivery dates for sales documents in Business Central.
Sales lead time in Business Central is based on the Shipping Time concept, which defines the time required to deliver goods after the shipment.
The Shipping Time field on the Shipping and Billing tab can be used to update the shipping time on a customer order.
A date formula can be used in the shipping time field to calculate the planned delivery date on the sales lines.
Default shipping time can be set on the customer card or the ship-to address to automatically update the delivery date of a customer order.
Dynamic date formulas like CW cannot be used for backward calculations, and absolute date formulas like 5D should be used instead.
Shipping agents can be used to record shipping time for customers and automatically update delivery dates on sales orders.
Shipping agent services can be set up with shipping time and a calendar to create rules for calculating delivery time.
Business Central uses both forward and backward calculations to determine shipping and delivery dates.
