Repository for collaboration on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central applications can be found on github.com under microsoft/BCApps.
Contribution to the Business Central Base App can also be made in a private repository, allowing for issue addressing, feature additions, and fixes.
Prior to contributing, a docker container must be created using a script from AL-GO for Github, which takes approximately an hour to set up.
A new service introduced by Tobias Fenster and COSMO CONSULT at Directions EMEA allows for quick creation of docker containers and contribution with the Alpaca toolkit.
Installation of the new app "COSMO Alpaca Preview" in VS Code is the first step to creating a container for the Base App.
Once the container is ready, preparation for Base App deployment can be done in a single step by executing "Prepare for base app deployment".
Additional steps include creating launch.json for the container, downloading symbols and .netpackages, and adding the runtime version to app.json.
With the Alpaca tooling, developers receive 20 hours of free running time per month, encouraging collaboration and contributions to the community.
