Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 release wave 2 (BC25) public preview is available.
Developers and power users can utilize improved features for report documents in Business Central.
Business value: These improvements reduce time spent on designing layouts for documents and allow more power users to work with document layouts.
There are four types of layouts that can be used on reports in Business Central: Word, RDLC, Excel, and external.
With BC25, improvements for the Word layout feature include the ability to use sections in Word layouts and the WordMergeDataItem property.
The WordMergeDataItem property specifies the root-level DataItem used to generate separate reports for multiple records.
Users can download a Word layout template for a report from the Report Layouts page, making it easier to convert layouts.
In BC25, Microsoft added two new actions: Update and Export Layout, and Export Report Schema, to enhance report customization capabilities.
