A Virtual entity in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is an abstract entity that does not store data in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations database(AxDB) itself.
Virtual entities behave like regular Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations entities but interact with data in real-time from external sources without duplicating it in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
Virtual entities are useful for integrating D365 with third-party applications or databases when real-time integration is required.
The process to configure Dataverse virtual entities involves steps such as going to the Power apps portal, installing the Finance and Operations Virtual Entity, creating an App Registration in the Azure Portal, assigning specific roles in Dynamics 365, and configuring the Power apps solution.
Adding a data entity as a virtual entity involves going to Power apps Home, accessing advanced settings, pinning the entity, selecting the desired entity, and making it visible in CDS.
To check if the virtual entity is in CDS, one can go to the Power apps portal, click on tables, filter for the entity name, and verify its presence.
