Dynamics 365 Business Central offers one production environment and three sandbox environments for free with Premium and Essential subscriptions.
Additional production environments can be purchased through CSP partners if needed.
With BC21.4, Microsoft introduced the Environment recovery feature, allowing admins to restore soft-deleted environments within seven days.
Restoring a soft-deleted production environment will exceed the quota but can be done for critical situations, with a limit of 30 days usage.
The restored environment will be active and ready for user connections, impacting the capacity of used environments.
Exceeding the quota by one extra production environment is allowed for restoration purposes.
After restoring an environment, it must be returned within the quota within 30 days by removing the original production environment or purchasing an additional one.
The exception for exceeding the quota is not available for sandbox environments.
